Target intelligence / Profile preview

NADH dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] 1 alpha subcomplex subunit 3 (NDUFA3)

Target
NDUFA3
Molecular classification
Enzyme (Accessory subunit of mitochondrial Complex I, a respiratory chain enzyme)
01

Overview

NADH dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] 1 alpha subcomplex subunit 3 (NDUFA3) is a small accessory subunit of mitochondrial respiratory chain Complex I, localized to the inner mitochondrial membrane[1][6]. It contributes to assembly and structural integrity of Complex I, which is responsible for electron transfer from NADH to ubiquinone in oxidative phosphorylation. Although NDUFA3 itself is not believed to participate in catalytic electron transfer, its loss can impair mitochondrial function and is associated with mitochondrial diseases and some neurodegenerative disorders[1][2][3][4][6].
